Dr. Doug Broome

Senior Pastor


Dr. Doug Broome was called to serve as Senior Pastor of FBC Natchez in March 2008. He has served over thirty years in pastoral ministry, having also pastored churches in Brookhaven, Waynesboro, and Yazoo City.  Bro. Doug holds an undergraduate degree from Mississippi College and Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry degrees from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. An avid reader, runner, and cyclist, Bro. Doug is also an accomplished track and cross country coach. Additionally, he is involved in the Natchez community, taking part in local events such as Angels on the Bluff and the Historic Natchez Tableaux. Bro. Doug is joined in ministry by his wife, Gwenette. They have one adult son, Bradley.  

Dr. Broome served as the President of the Mississippi Baptist Convention from 2015-2017.

Jason Burnett

Children's Minister


Jason Burnett joined the staff of FBC on October 1, 2017.   A native of Arkansas and a graduate of Williams Baptist College, he received his Bachelors degree in church music before attending New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in New Orleans.  At NOBTS he received a Master's degree in Church Music.  He and his wife, Suzanne, organized and ran the Camp Nola Kidz summer camp for children.  He has served as Assistant Children's Minister at FBC New Orleans prior to joining the staff at FBC, Natchez.




Suzanne joined the FBC Natchez staff  on October 1, 2017.  She and her husband, Jason, are natives of Arkansas and graduated from Williams Baptist College where she received a degree in Christian education.   She attended New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary where she received her Masters of Divinity in Christian Education degree.  Suzanne previously served as Director of the Early Learning Center at First Baptist Church, New Orleans.  She and Jason organized and ran the Camp Nola Kidz summer camp for children.  Suzanne has also written material for Lifeway preschool publications.

Derrick Burt, 

Director of Music Ministries


For over 30 years, Derrick has led churches to worship The Lord through music.  He has served as Worship Leader and choir director at Pine Lake Church and Jackson Revival Center before joining the staff of FBC in 2014.  In addition to his role as Worship Leader, Derrick has frequently been the guest soloist at special events   such as the Inauguration of Governor Haley Barbour, the Southern Baptist Convention , and was the musical coordinator and performer for the Presidential visit of President George W. Bush at the Mississippi Coliseum.  He enjoys tennis and  spending time with his wife Kim and their two children, Jillian and Derrick II.   His greatest passion is spreading the good news of Jesus.

Debbie Foster, 

First Baptist Church Administrator


Debbie serves as FBC's Administrator.    She has been a member of the church staff since 2003.  Before serving in her current role, Debbie served as Financial Secretary and Music Secretary.  She is a graduate of UL-Monroe.  She worked for a number of years in the travel industry, serving as a manger of several travel agencies and was owner/operator of a rental car agency.  Debbie is married to Forrest and they have three children:  Ashley, Taylor, and Alex, and three grandchildren.  She enjoys riding motorcycles, reading, and spending time with her family.

Tanya Fisher, Church Secretary


Tanya joined the FBC staff as Church Secretary in 2009.  She provides administrative and ministry support to the Senior Pastor, maintains the church calendars, and provides support to FBC's education ministry.  Before joining the FBC staff, Tanya worked for several years as a teacher at Jefferson Street Methodist Preschool and Trinity Episcopal School in Natchez.  She has been a member of FBC since 1981.  She loves spending time with her three adult children:  Michael, Michelle, and Andrew, and her grandchildren.

Nancy Bowman, Receptionist


Nancy serves as our Receptionist.  Her academic and professional backgrounds mark her love for people.  She earned a degree in sociology, and has worked as a social worker and teacher.  She also managed Dunleith Bed & Breakfast in Natchez for several years.  She has been a member of FBC since 1973.  She is passionate about teaching women God's Word, leading a women's Sunday School class and a weekly ladies Bible Study in her home.  Nancy loves spending time with her two adult children and their families - especially her six grandchildren.

Linda heard, Organist

Linda has served as Church Organist since 1994.  She provides music for worship services and choir rehearsals, and plays for weddings and funeral services as needed for our church families.  Linda holds a bachelors degree in music education from the University of Southern Mississippi, with a major emphasis in organ and minor emphasis in voice and piano.  She has served as a public high school music educator, and has taught music locally at Trinity Episcopal Day School.   Linda and her husband Franklin have three children and twelve grandchildren.  She enjoys music, fishing, baseball, cross-stitch, Bible study, and spending time with her family.

Judy Mason, Pianist

Judy has been a member of FBC and served as our Church Pianist since 2007.  She accompanies the adult choir and  plays for worship services and special events.  Before joining FBC, she served as the church pianist and children's choir director at Parkway Baptist Church in Natchez.  She has been a member of the faculty at Adams County Christian School since 1990.  In her leisure time, Judy serves as a cheerleading coach at ACCS, and she enjoys music and spending time with her two adult children and six grandchildren.

Floyd gardner

Sound Technician

Floyd has worked with the sound system at FBC for over a decade.   He  and his wife, Susan, are long-time members of FBC.    Floyd is also involved in community productions that require sound  management.   

Terry Stutzman, Music Secretary


Terry joined the staff as Music Secretary in 2016.  As Music Secretary, she assists the Director of Music Ministries in preparation for worship services on Sunday and Wednesday and special events.  She is a graduate of Mississippi State University, UMMC School of Allied Health Professions, and received an MBA degree from the University of Southern Mississippi.  She worked for a number of years in the health care field  and later taught at Copiah Lincoln Community College.  A member of FBC since 1982, she enjoys teaching Sunday School,  and participating in the Sanctuary Choir.  Terry and her husband Spencer enjoy spending time with their two daughters, sons-in-law and grandchildren.
