Margaret serves as the FBC Ministry Assistant/Church Clerk. Prior to joining the FBC staff in 2023, Margaret worked as an EHR (Electronic Health Records) Trainer in the field of Health Information Technology (IT). She also has had previous experience as a Financial Administrator and Director-Human Resources. Additional experience includes being an entrepreneur starting and building multiple businesses with her late husband Mike. In addition to her work experience, Margaret has served in music ministry as a musician, singer and worship leader. She studied piano for 12+ years with the Kuehnle School of Music and plays piano, keyboard and organ. Margaret studied voice. In college she was a member of the Ladies of Lee at Lee University, traveling to sing in multiple churches and chapel services. Also, she was a member of an a cappella ladies ensemble called the "Agape Singers". She was privileged to be a member of a 14-member worship team which held weekend worship services in the Phoenix Symphony Hall, and included worshippers and musicians from Jerusalem, Arizona, North Carolina & Tennessee.
She is happily married to James Smith. Margaret has one daughter, Julie, her husband Miles and granddaughter Eleanor. Together Margaret and James attend FBC and enjoy visits with their children/grandchildren when they can, exploring antique shops and spending quiet time together at their home in Natchez.
Margaret enjoys worship, music, computers and reading. She began working with the FBC music department and joined the Sanctuary Choir in 2022 and was honored to sing in the Christmas programs. She is a member of the National Association of Ministry Assistants (NAMA).
